The origins of Chron Gen date back as far as 1977. School mates Glynn Barber and John Johnson (JJ) took to guitar and drums inspired by the new music they were hearing known as Punk Rock. The band came of age due in no small part to being invited to play at London’s iconic Lyceum Theatre with the cream of Britain’s second wave Punk bands.
Their high octane performances on the subsequent Apocalypse Now tour in the summer of 1981 gave fans a taste of what was to come, quickly gathering a large following both at home and abroad, with first E.P. Puppets of War a fixture at the higher end of the Indie Charts for months and first long player Chronic Generation even grazing the national chart.
Line-up changes and fallow periods were punctuated with highly regarded performances at major Punk festivals, such as Rebellion, inspiring Glynn to write new material resulting in 2016’s This is the Age album.
2018 sees Glynn and JJ joined by new members, Steve on bass and White on second guitar with Chron Gen hitting the road and receiving great reviews for their high energy shows.
The band is fired up and ready to go into the next decade and beyond.
